twitter spreads a party like wildfire

http://wwmt.com/shared/news/features/national/stories/wwmt_twitter-helps-fuel-massive-ontario-mansion-party-7787.shtml#.U2jPTs5tqnk

the social media site, twitter, helps spread the word about a massive Ontario party and it gets completely out of hand. In one hour before the police got there, these crazy teens did about $70,000 in damage. Police also say there was 1,500 kids there thanks to twitter. Several kids were arrested for everything from assult to public intoxication. This is social media works, especially twitter, one simple "retweet" and every person that follows you will see that post, it spreads really really fast. This probably isn't the only party that has happened like this, even at my little school, word gets around and i'm not the least bit surprised if thats how parents track their kids activity

burgers for breakfast

http://www.nbcnews.com/business/consumer/mcdonalds-tests-seasoned-fries-burger-king-adds-breakfast-burgers-n100786

Mcdonalds and burger king, fast food rivals are starting a new battle, Mcdonalds confirmed on thursday that they are testing new seasonings for their fries, patrons in Stockton, California, and St. Louis can order Garlic Parmesan, Zesty Ranch and Spicy Buffalo fries, while burger king is adding burgers to their breakfast menu.
Sales this year in mcdonalds have already dropped 1.3% Burger king is planning on adding even the whopper to their AM menu. This is funny because of the taco bell new breakfast menu and you'd think that these places already make enough money, but apparently not. Its nice for taco bell to be open in the morning now because that means more jobs or at least longer shifts available, but this also means people have another excuse to put so many fats and calories into their bodies.

prom police

In May 2014, a Richmond, Virginia, teen attending a home school prom said she was kicked out because her dress was too short. she later posted a picture that confirmed her dress was longer than her finger tips, which is the dress code. some of the dads chaperoning say that her dancing was too provocative. "16, 17, 18-year-olds should not be in dresses with thigh-high slits, necklines that plunge precariously close to the belly button, backs that are cut so low as to expose butt dimples," said a mother named Judith on CNN's Facebook page. "Parents need to step in and stop this 'beyond the age' dressing, says the website. I feel like this is going too far, its a formal event and most dresses sold at debs, macys and most of them at promgirl.com don't fit the "dress code" and how it used to be when most parents were our age. Looking at her dress compared to the others i think hers is actually most appropriate, most teens our age are watching movies that expose girls 12 times as much as a short dress would. all these complaining parents need to realize that times have changed and they can only control their own children.

man froze his mothers body for 3 years

Jon Whiteford had a secret so macabre, that when a Kentucky sheriff's deputy showed up to question him about it, he pulled out a handgun and killed himself. After his mother died of natural causes at age 96 jon kept her frozen and post poned her funeral, to collect her social security and her retirement benefits. When she died he did not want to lose the income and his close friends say that they wondered if his mother had passed away but they were too afraid to ask. Three weeks after his suicide the police sent in dogs to sniff out remains and they couldnt find anything. soon after detectives found a place that jon once rented, and there they found a body wrapped up in a tarp, and it was Faye Whiteford's. This makes me sad because clearly he was upset about his mothers death but he cared more about her income and he went to the extremes of lugging her dead body around just so he could collect her benefits, i do think he should be definitely punished for the collection of that money because people like that are the reason that when i get older, the money coming out of my checks will never come back to me, and that pisses me off. It ishouldnt be happening and this is why social security should be way better monitored.

Mouthy kids murder trial

http://www.hlntv.com/slideshow/2014/04/28/schenecker-julie-crime-scene-photos-murder-trial-children?hpt=hp_t3

A tampa, Florida mother is charged of killing her two teenagers for being mouthy back in 2011 case is finally going underway and with new released crime scene photos. Julie Schenecker armed herself with a .38 and shot her 13 year old boy in the head twice. After killing her 13 year old schenecker walked into the house and shot her 16 year old daughter once in the head and once in the face, while she did her homework on the family computer. Police say that julies motive was because her children were being "mouthy". A few weeks ago prosecutors announced that julie would not face the death penatly because of her mental health issues. This is absolutely crazy that this woman is excused for killing her two children just because of her health issues, how in the heck does that make sense?! This actually doesnt surprise me that this took place in florida because this is where the casey anthony case took place and the judge seemed to think that was okay, so why not kill both of your children. i will be following this to see what actually happens to this woman.

4th grader suspended

 http://www.wwmt.com//shared/news/features/top-stories/stories/wwmt_4th-grader-suspended-indefinitely-bringing-airsoft-gun-school-20338.shtml#.U1pRblVdXVo

A 10-year-old boy brought a toy gun to school, which created a police response last week, some wondering if this punishment fits the crime. 25 years ago this would have never been such a bad thing but times have changed and its so sad that a fourth grader can no longer go to school because an innocent act of bringing a toy weapon to school. No decision has been made yet, but Blacken says he is hoping the prosecutor will require the 4th grader to receive counseling. I really wonder if the child meant any harm at all when he made this decision. when the fourth grader said he "needed this for protection" im sure he was saying that out of repetition, probably from a television show or overheard from upper classmen, i truly think this child just needs help, not a punishment

california bus crash

http://www.wwmt.com/template/inews_wire/wires.national/33eda203-www.wwmt.com.shtml#.U1pO8lXZjVo

11 middle school students and the driver was injuried after a bus crash in southern california, three of the injuried, two students and the driver are in critical condition and the other nine had minor injuries. the bus ended up tilted sideways and leaning against a tree. police say there was no other cars involved in the crash. There is no immediate word on the cause. This is absolutely insane, how does this happen when nobody else was involved? this is why schools should really take into consideration who they hire as a driver, and school buses really arent that safe if that many people were hurt. Thats why when i am a parent i will be very afraid to send my kids on the bus, too many things like this happen.. i really hope they find the cause soon and they get to the bottom of what really happened. hopefully everyone is okay including the driver, maybe it wasnt all their fault

GM twice failed to fix problem

http://www.wwmt.com/template/inews_wire/wires.regional.mi/2fea9fc0-www.wwmt.com.shtml#.Uzldi6jZjVo

The memo was released Sunday, ahead of the subcommittee's Tuesday hearing on GM's recall of 2.6 million small cars for an ignition switch defect linked to 13 deaths. This is absolutely crazy that they've known for 10 years and didn't do a thing about it, for a part that is literally $ 3-5 could have saved 13 lives. i don't know how they got away with it for this long but i hope they make it right. they met in 2006 and talked about switching or fixing the design but later found it was "too expensive" and it would take too long, well its their own fault and they shouldn't have put a part on any car that they knew what defective. also they say that a heavy key chain will make it so it will shut off engine power, well how many teenage drivers have their wallet, and a bunch of keys and knick naks that would never link a problem with their car because of that, gm better pay for this, this is all i have too say. I feel so bad for the families.

Michigan State Police are investigating the deaths of a 5-month-old girl and her mother, after they were found dead together on a bed. Family members say that she was a wonderful mother and they have no idea what could have happened. I really hope that whoever sick minded person was i hope they find them soon and they get what they deserve. i cant imagine what this family is going through, the policeman were probably traumatized. i really hope it wasnt a bloody mess and they didnt suffer. the five month old and her mother, so so sad. i will be following this up on the news and the website because this really interests me and i hope that this is an wakeup for people to be more careful and to have security in their homes.

The leg that wont heal

http://www.foxnews.com/health/2014/03/27/better-life-11-year-old-boy-gets-wish-to-amputate-his-leg/?intcmp=trending

Amit was born with a very rare condition called congenital pseudarthrosis of the fibula and tibia, combined with osteofibrous dysplasia. According to the National Institutes of Health, congenital pseudarthrosis of the tibia alone affects between 1 out of every 140,000 to 250,000 births. The conditions cause some of the bones in the leg to be very weak, having a greater tendency to fracture. This is great that the doctors have decided to cut this leg off, because then eventually he can have a plastic one and be able to actually move around and have the chance to a normal life. Even at 11 he understands and has a great idea of what happening, in the picture shown his leg looks gross and kids, especially his age will definitely make fun of him more than if they just made the decision to get rid of it. This will also get rid of the pain, this is really heartwarming.

22 year old pushes her husband off a cliff

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/03/27/newlywed-gets-30-years-in-husband-murder-case/?intcmp=latestnews

U.S. District Judge Donald Molloy sentenced Jordan Graham, 22, who had pleaded guilty to second-degree murder just before closing arguments during her December trial, she pushed her husband off a cliff because she was having second thoughts about her marriage. Jordan claimed that she didnt think about where they were she "just pushed". She even drove back to her home and reported him missing the next day. This is absolutely crazy, now you can so easily get a divorce, i mean heaven for bid she was only 22 and had her whole life ahead of her and now she's sentenced to 50 years to life in prison. If you are comfortable enough to marry someone i think you should be able to tell them about your second thoughts in the marriage, this girl is crazy. Prosecutors presented jurors dozens of text messages between Graham and a friend from church, Kimberly Martinez, that documented how Graham's nervous excitement at the prospect of the wedding turned into despair over the week that followed. Jordan even went on to talk about how her husband said that would be a good place to die so she said he got his wish.. wow, just wow. what is this world coming to

Break that junk food addiction

Break your junk-food addiction
http://www.cnn.com/2014/03/27/health/upwave-junk-food-addiction/index.html

This article is about how to break that addiction of the junk foods and soda pop which is not doing your heart or hips any favor, I feel like the problem isn't people not knowing how to cook or being "addicted" it really comes down to cost, it's extremely expensive to buy, apples and oranges and good meats now A days but buying Mac and cheese and frozen pizza and fruit snacks and a two liter of pop is so darn cheap. Why? Why does the government do this to us.. No wonder half of America is overweight and so unhealthy. It is nice for these people to be introduced to good, easy meals but I think bottom line it comes down to cheap and fast foods.. Now people think of quantity over quality and that's going to keep happening especially with the winter we've had, healthy food prices are going to skyrocket

What one in 68 children have

CDC: 1 in 68 U.S. children has autism
http://www.cnn.com/2014/03/27/health/cdc-autism/index.html

Autism numbers are growing from 1 in 88 just two years ago. And about 1 in 42 boys have it, which Is 4.5 more likely than girls. This really really saddens me because you'd think as time goes on that there would be less and less of this happening because of all the science happening and new advances in technology but it looks like the complete opposite. I don't think people realize the huge spectrum of diagnosing autism, I mean there are some children with just the speech problem or problems focussing and then you have the other kids that can barely function on their own and Thats why I feel sometimes it is missed and just gets worse because there is such a wide range. It really hits me close to home because my little cousin who happens to be a male, was diagnosed  when he was 12.. When all those years he could have been getting the help he needed

grown-ups can't put the phone down

http://thechart.blogs.cnn.com/2014/03/10/grown-ups-put-down-the-smartphones-at-mealtime/

In this day and age parents use their phones while their children vie for attention, this is becoming more and more of a problem. Researchers observed 55 caregivers with young children at fast-food restaurants in the metropolitan Boston area. Out of the 55 observed, 40 caregivers (73%) used devices at some point during the meal. Nearly 30% used the device almost continuously throughout the meal, only briefly putting it down. This is so sad because more adults are getting heavier into social media and this is even more distracting, I'm really glad i grew up when my mother didnt have a smart phone and they werent very popular, im also sick of people saying they need them for the camera, hello that's what digital cameras are for.. more convenient and less of a risk if you break it. i often see people come into my work pushing a stroller and still on their phone non stop, its actually worse than most teenagers.

8 year old set on fire

http://www.kens5.com/news/crime/Man-to-be-tried-as-adult-for-setting-8-year-old-on-fire-victim-died-13-years-later--248926521.html

A judge has decided that the Texas man who set an 8-year-old boy on fire will be tried as an adult in the murder case. Robbie Middleton died in 2011, 13 years after he was doused in gasoline and set ablaze to cover an alleged sex assault. 99% of his body was burned after he was doused in gasoline. collins was trying to cover up a sexual assault that happend two weeks before. Robbie survived the attack. After years of skin grafts and other surgeries, he died of skin cancer caused by the severe burns. I am happy that he is being tried as an adult no matter what age that boy was 13 or 25 you know exactly what you're doing setting someone to fire alive. I hope he is set away, taking someones life at 8 years old is absurd and i'm sure it mentally damaged watching your friend die from being burnt alive.

Highschooler steps up for a great cause

http://www.wwmt.com//news/features/michigan/stories/high-school-freshman-organizes-fundraiser-teammate-87.shtml

13-year-old David Cairns was diagnosed with a rare nerve disorder just a few months ago, forcing the young athlete to give up sports. So his friend maddy steps up and has an ice fishing tournament to raise money for David, Hoping to raise money to get him the tools and machines he needs to get back to where he used to be. Fishing tournament alone they raised 3,200, which is truly amazing.
this is wonderful, if everyone would step up and fundraise like this, America would be a better place. Especially when this hits so close to home, maybe my school could chip In or we could do something like this for students that need help around our community, ice fishing tournament would be perfect. I hope the best for David and maybe one day he will return to playing the sports he loves.

No more BBQ?

http://www.wwmt.com//news/features/health/stories/study-barbequed-meat-could-speed-up-dementia-595.shtml
Scientist are now saying that browning your meat releases an enzyme that can now lead to damage in the Brain at an early age. This actually makes me mad because the end it says "nobody should throw their grills away just yet" okay then why say anything about it, now people are going to freak out about it and start spreading crazy rumors, I feel like if it hasn't already effected anyone then why link it with such a silly thing. Although I'm interested to see what comes of this so I will follow this story. My family grills a whole lot and this would be strange if it was no more.

An 85 year old nun sentenced to prison

www.cnn.com/2014/02/18/justice/tennessee-nun-sentenced/index.html?hpt=us_c2

An 84-year-old nun was sentenced to 35 months in prison Tuesday for breaking into a nuclear facility, her lawyer said. The incident began before dawn on July 28, 2012, when the three cut through a chain-link fence surrounding the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. This is the exact opposite of what people would think about a typical nun, and an 85 year old for that. I really wonder why she needed these weapons. And i wonder how the poor old woman is going to do in prison for 35 months, i'm soo suprises this woman cut through 3 feet of fence and walked over a mile to get to her destination. This woman caused more than $1,000 in federal property damage.

Woman kills her friend and then cuts a baby from the womb

http://www.cnn.com/2014/02/18/justice/massachusetts-sentence/index.html?hpt=ju_c2

A Massachusetts woman found guilty in the first-degree murder of her pregnant friend has been sentenced to life without the possibility of parole, according to Worcester Superior Court. This is absolutely disgusting, she killed a woman for her baby.. all the children without homes in this world and she chooses to take someones life over it. Then this woman tried to play it off like it was her child, she was 35 at the time in 2009. And the woman murdered was only 23 years old and 8 months pregnant. It's probably the most horrific case this office has seen," said Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. I cannot believe this story and i'm so glad the woman was caught. I hate to say it but she does deserve the death penalty, although i sincerely hope that the baby has her mothers family left so they can take care of her and give her a happy, healthy life.
RIP to this woman, i hope the best for her family.

Is negro an appropriate way to refer to biracial people?

http://www.cnn.com/2014/02/19/living/biracial-black-identity-answers/index.html?hpt=li_c2

This article is about when the census listed Negro as a race option in 2010 and how people feel about it now. Most of the elderly think the negro is the proper and the appropriate way to refer to that race, but this generation that is unheard of. Readers also reject the term African American, the consider it inaccurate and awkward. This is absurd i feel that it should remain to be known as colored, that's not offensive and that's also not stating that they are from Africa or saying that they are some other kind of mix. This world is all about equality and yet people can go on and on about something as simple as mixed, colored or negro. I honestly didn't think this stuff was still a problem because that didn't happen around my high school. I would imagine this is at schools that are primarily white or a race other than, "black". It also surprises me that this is from new york, they seem quite intertwined with different races.

Flappy Bird Fallout

http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052702303874504579376323271110900

This game called flappy bird on the app store was deleted because it was too addictive and players considered the creator to be "Satan". Creator, Mr dong says i didn't intend for people to sit and play for hours, his personal score is only 150. due to the obsession people are willing to pay 134,000 to buy a phone with the app still on it. Mr. Dong said he spent three days developing "Flappy Bird." It employs a distinctive retro style that he claims goes along with the way he was raised, life isnt always easy "It is pure. It is all about the game, not about the ornamentation or decoration," he said.I feel this is absolutely insane to pay that much for a game that was once free. I personally have played and yes it is very very frustrating, and rather addicting but it sure is not worth that money. This poor man who created the game now cant even walk through his neighborhood without being pestered. This is exactly whats wrong with America, its okay to not worry about actual issues but once a game gets deleted off an app store people go crazy. Although mr dong has been harrassed he still feels confident to keep creating games and now peoples attention is on his other games called "Ninjas Assault" and "Droplet Shuffle.

Cyber Bullying

http://www.mlive.com/news/jackson/index.ssf/2014/02/cyberbullying_hurting_more_jac.html

In Jackson county cyber bullying on social media, such as Facebook and twitter is becoming a problem now for even the middle school students. This is much more serious then how "bullying" used to be, Its way more damaging. M live states that 38% of seventh grade students have read a rumor or sent a message about someone within the past year. I believe That this is absurd, the problem comes from the parents at first, you don't give a child a iPhone or a laptop to be unsupervised, you have no idea who they are contacting and what they are doing. With the amount of apps and secret websites out, its never safe, especially so a young teen. I thought bullying was illegal, this doesn't make sense to me that its okay for this to keep going on and the police just sit back and take stats on the percentage of bullying happening.
